Fall is here. How exciting. Now that we are living in the Midwest, we are experiencing a true Fall Season. Back in Texas, it does not get cool and the leaves do not start to change until November. Well, here in Missouri, we have been having cooler temperatures and the trees have been turning beautiful shades of Autumn for weeks, now. So nice. So, when I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for this time of year. We can find apples and pears, galore, in our grocery stores. I hope you enjoy this tasty recipe for homemade Apples ‘n’ Pear sauce. You will love how easy the recipe is, and I know you love using your slow cooker, just like me. 🙂 Serve it alone, or over some ice cream or pound cake.
3 Gala apples (about 1 1/2 pounds), peeled and sliced
3 Anjou or Bartlett pears ( about 1 1/2 pounds), peeled and sliced
1 Tbls fresh lemon jice
1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp cornstarch
- Place apple, pear, and lemon juice in a 4 1/2 quart electric slow cooker; toss gently.
- Combine brown sugar, syrup, and butter; stir well. Spoon sugar mixture over fruit. Add pecans, raisins, and cinnamon; stir gently. Cover with lid; cook on low-heat setting 5 1/2 hours.
- Combine water and cornstarch in a small bow; stir until well blended. Stir cornstarch mixture into fruit mixture. Cover and cook 20 minutes or until slightly thick; stir well. Serve with your favorite vanilla ice cream, or pound cake.
Yields: 13 servings (serving size: 1/3 cup).

Thanks, Lisa, for expanding the fields! Of course, wouldn’t you know it, I have a relatively short title this week, but I know it will be handy for future weeks when those titles get long and descriptive!
Have a wonderful and blessed week!

Hey Lisa, I made a great peach sauce this year, so this apple/pear is on my to do list as well. My link up this week is super easy crock pot beef stock. If this doesn’t get you making your own stock, nothing will! Alex@amoderatelife
I made Apple Butter over a week ago and it’s still sitting in the crockpot in the fridge waiting for me 🙂 ugh….
Your apple and pear sauce sounds yummy!
Thanks so much for hosting Lisa!

Yummmm, this sounds great. It would be good with frozen yogurt too, keeping the calories low. I bet it would be nice on pork as well.

I love applesauce and pear sauce (which I made last week), but never thought to combine the two, but now I am going to!

I have apples from our tree and pears from a co-workers tree. I will be making this soon. I think I will make some vanilla ice cream to serve it with!

I’ve made this and eliminated the sugar (it’s one of my things…) and it’s perfectly sweet enough! you can really taste the fruit and the raisins give it a sweet lift.
