The healthier path…an update.

by Lisa on November 15, 2010

The numbers do not lie!

I wanted to give you an update on my path to better health.  As you know, I began working with a trainer in September.  I am at the two month mark with her.  As well as exercise, I have changed my eating habits, choosing much healthier foods, and appropriate portion sizes.  This has cut my calorie in take as well.  All good stuff!

It has been a month since my last weigh in and measurements, with my trainer, Heather.  So, today was the day.  I have to say, I was not looking forward to it.  I knew I had not eaten as well, as normal, over the past week and weekend, and my water intact was less than normal.  (Water is so important.)  But, I was still pleased.  I have lost several more pounds (putting me close to the 20 lb mark!) and more inches lost!  In some areas, my measurements remained the same, but that is okay.  No weight was gained and no inches were added;  I knew that would not be a problem.  It would have been nice to see a few more inches off, but – it is all good.  Forward progress toward my goals!

I am trying to eat between 1400-1600 calories a day, with a splurge up to 2000 calories, once a week.  (Remember, I am not trying to maintain a weight.  I am in weight loss mode.  Thus, the decreased calorie intake.)  I meet with my trainer twice a week, for cardio and strength training.  She also guides me regarding my nutrition.  I try to get at least 2-3 other days of cardio in when not working out with Heather.  Now,  do I always stay in those target calorie zones and do I always get that much cardio in, each week?  No.  But, it is a goal, and I am doing good.  I am so proud of the progress I have already made, and continue to make.

Yesterday, I wore a pair of jeans that have not fit me in at least 3 years!! Woo hoo!! That is a victory, my friend.  A sweet victory!
