I believe…

by Lisa on December 2, 2010

My heart has been so heavy for the past few days. A friend attempted to take his life, on Sunday. Apparently he lost hope. He lost his way. He let the enemy convince him the lies in his head were actually truths. He stopped believing in life.

I know this friend is a believer. He knows who his God is. He knows who his Savior is. But, apparently, he forgot to grab hold of his Maker. He let other things in his life grab hold of him and tear him apart.

How does someone get to that point? I think it is different for everyone. I wonder if he forgot the important thing… hope. Maybe he forgot to keep hoping for a better tomorrow in the midst of a difficult today.

I pray people will see there is love. There is life. There is always HOPE…

Isaiah 40:31 (New International Version, ©2010)
but those who
hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint

When all your strength is gone, when you don’t have the ability to bear life on your own… turn to God.  He is our HOPE.  He will renew our strength when we are weary.  With Him, we can soar on the wings like eagles.  We will not grow faint.

I believe God will get us through the good and bad times.  I know I have to trust Him, daily, to help me.  I cannot do life without Him.

When I received the call, Monday morning, about my friend, I discovered a community of people who, like me, love this guy.  We may not see him frequently.  We live all over America.   Facebook has been our means  of keeping in touch and sharing our lives.  So, it only seemed right that once our friend was in need – true need of his friends – we all came together on Facebook.    Many of us did not know each other before this event.   We starting leaving messages for Marc and each other, on his Facebook page.   See, we all have a common goal – to pray for healing for our friend, Marc.

There have been prayers going up, all over this great country.  There are people praying for Marc who have never met him, as well as those who do know him.  There are people who haven’t seen him in twenty-five years, and those who recently saw him; all unified in prayer for a friend.  Prayer has been the key, and we have been requesting a miracle from God.

You see, as of Monday morning, Marc was in critical condition, in a coma.   The doctors were not giving much hope to his family.  There was concern about significant brain damage.  The hope was minimal.  Then…the prayers began.  The word spread to people who knew Marc as a kid, who were his best buds in high school, those who hung with him in college, and who worked with him during his adulthood… the list goes on….   the news spread like fire:

“We have a friend, who lost his way… we now need him to fight for his life.  PRAY!”

We were not just praying he would live.  We were praying for a miracle.  We asked God for a full recovery.  We asked for Marc to be made whole, again- for God to restore his mind and body – for there to be healing in his heart.   We prayed that during the time in the coma, God would reveal Himself to Marc and show Him the plan for Marc’s life.

One particular scripture was pointed out to us regarding this same prayer for revelation.  Everyone committed to specifically pray on Tuesday afternoon at 4:20pm.   People all over praying at the same moment- many of us praying for God to reveal Himself to Marc.   During this time, my sister with a couple other friends were at the hostital, outside the ICU, praying.  One friend was later allowed to go and pray over Marc, at his bedside.  We were later pointed to Proverbs 4:20 (we prayed at 4:20).

Proverbs 4:20
My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.

God wants Marc to hear Him. I believe that.  I believe He wants His son to return, just as the prodigal son returned.  God is waiting with open arms for my friend.

I believe in the miracle!   As of Tuesday, Marc remained in a coma.  The physicians planned to run brain studies, on Wednesday morning, to determine the extent of his brain injuries.  Well, that was not necessary!  After much prayer for healing…. Marc woke from his coma on Wednesday morning.  As of today, he is out of ICU, talking and even reading.  I understand he is still recovering.  His mind is not completely whole, yet.  His motor skills are slow and he has no memory of this past week.  But, I know God will continue to heal Marc. I ask you join the thousands, already praying, and ask for continued restoration of health – physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Please understand this is a miracle.  The medical staff at the hospital were dumbfounded when Marc awoke.  They have no explanation for his recovery.  His own father, who is also a physician, stated this was the greatest verifiable miracle he had ever seen!  The only explanation…. GOD!

I believe God heard our pleas for this friend.  I believe He healed him and continues to heal him.  I also believe this event will change many lives.  I don’t just mean the life of my friend and his family.  Oh yes, this will change them – it has changed them.  But, I am referring the the hundreds, if not thousands who have already heard of this story and of Marc’s healing.  We all give God the glory and credit for the healing.

I believe God answers prayer.  I believe God still performs miracles.

I believe….

I BELIEVE too. God is good. HE is in control. HE hears and answers prayer. In all things count it all joy. God was glorified through your friend. Seeds were planted. Fruit will bear. Praise God.
In Christ,

Thank you for sharing this miracle. I know the feeling of wanting to quit all to well; God is what kept me going. Knowing others love and pray for you is huge too. I will be praying for Marc and may his spirit be renewed too.

What a great testimony of God’s healing power. He truly is in control of all things and has a purpose and a plan. I know many people who are hurting and have lost all hope and it is because they got their eyes off of the Saviour and began looking at their circumstances. It is easy to do, none of us are exempt, but we must never let go of the Hand that leads and guides us. I will pray for your friend for a 100% complete healing.

Thank you, Tammy. He does still need prayer. 🙂

Thank you God for being a faithful God for I know that with you all things are possible and without you nothing is possible. I believe that you will bless my family and myself with a job that I need so bad. You know I’m a single mother with a husband in another country, God I believe that you will bring Yemi home to us soon. I trust you more then anything on that. Amen
