I love desserts with citrus flavors. Lime or Lemon-I don’t care. It is all good to me. When I found this recipe via Tasteofhome.com, I had to try it!
- 2 Tbsp butter, softened
- 1 -1/2 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup lime or lemon juice
- 1 tsp grated lime or lemon peel
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 -1/4 cup 2% milk
- In a small bowl, beat butter and sugar until crumbly. Add the flour, salt, lime juice and peel; mix well. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; gently fold into batter.
- Pour into six ungreased 6-oz custard cups. Place cups in a large baking pan; add 1 in. water to pan.
- Bake, uncovered, at 325 for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean and top is golden. Serve war or at room temperature.
Won’t this be a great recipe for the summer? YUM!

Yum! I have a bag full of limes I bought at Wal-mart last week partly for tomorrow’s chicken tacos. I think I’ll use some of them for this recipe as well. Thanks so much for sharing!
Lisa,
Do you think I could cook this in some other sort of pan—like a 8×8 or 13×9 pan? I don’t have the little custard cups, but this sounds fabulous!! Think it would work in something else?
I’m not sure Liz. :-/
Mmmmm, these sound like the perfect summer treat.

Ummm, yum! That sounds delicious. I make mango custards that sounds similar in the outcome, but it’s a totally different method and ingredients. I’m definitely making this!
Oh, that looks good. I have never tried to make anything like that before. I do love lime. Thanks for the recipe.
My husband loves key lime pie. I’m wondering if this would be a nice alternative since we live in the Midwest and it can be hard to get good key limes. Thanks for the recipe idea.
Everything looks so yummy. Thanks for hosting.
